Nevada Revised Statute Section 200.481(h): Strangulation

The Nevada state laws for battery domestic violence with strangulation situations were categorized as misdemeanor offense. The penalties only have maximum of 6 month in jail and fines up to $1,000. With a new bill passed in July 2009, domestic violence with strangulation increased the offense to felony. The penalties include:Category C Felony
- Possible imprisonment for 1 to 5 years;
- $15,000 fine;
- $35 administrative assessment fee.
Category B Felony
If the defendant is a parolee or probationer, and/or the strangulation was committed with a deadly weapon:- Possible imprisonment from 1 to 20 years;
- $10,000 fine;
- $35 administrative assessment fee.
